Vision Specs

A Little Background:

In 2003, I convinced a friend to build the 2-place, 44 inch wide, extended-wing, tricycle gear, Vision with me. Our building project started in May of 2003 - with the construction of the seat. We've since progressed through the horizontal stab and are now working on the "flipped" fuselage. So far, we can honestly say that the Vision is one sturdy composite design! Beats the heck out of metal any day of the week!

Why the Vision?

The Vision appealed to us for a number of reasons. First and foremost was the building flexibility that a "plans-built" airplane provides. We are able to purchase materials and build sections of the airplane on our own schedules and budgets. We like the fact that the plans are well developed and easy to follow; Steve Rahm has done a great job of explaining the process in an almost "idiot-proof" way! The builder support we've gotten from Steve has been first-rate (although we haven't bugged him a lot - to be honest). Every time we e-mail Steve about a concern or perceived problem, he ALWAYs gets back to us within 24 hours! Finally, with the Vision, we'll have a non-cookie-cutter-type homebuilt airplane we can truly call our own!

Building at Our "Life Pace"

Over the past few years, we've experienced a mix of slow and faster building times. Life and work have the nasty habit of getting in the way! Although, through it all (learning to work with foams, epoxies, and fiberglass weaves, etc.), we've pressed-on toward the pursuit of finishing our own airplane. Every time we look at what we've completed, we both smile from ear to ear - excited about what we've accomplished! (We both built and flew model airplanes together as kids...and sometimes still do - as bigger kids!) We look forward to flying N114FM to air shows and sharing our pride and joy with other enthusiasts - someday within the next few years!

It's a Learning Process...

All this being said, we've definitely learned a lot about building an airplane over the past 5-plus years! We've developed a healthy respect for other builders of all types; non-composite and those of us building composite structures. We believe that a composite airplane is the only real way to build. Look at the Cirrus; how about the Diamond? Or the Glasair? There's no shortage of composite success stories out there! --- Why not the Vision???

Stop Dreaming - Start Building!

If you haven't already, we urge you to look into the Vision. It's a great, affordable, plans-built airplane...just waiting for you to build it! Come on!, go beyond just dreaming about building your own plane --- some day! Start building today! Vision Aircraft makes it all affordable - and within your reach financially.

In the pages that follow, you'll get a first-hand look into our building progress. We are by no means expert builders. We are proud to be called "Home Builders" and "Experimental Aircraft" builders! We're livin' the dream!
